BIO

Sheena Allen is a visionary entrepreneur, international speaker, author, and creative architect dedicated to driving innovation and creating opportunities through technology and beyond.

Her entrepreneurial journey began in 2011 during her senior year of college, when she founded her first tech company, Sheena Allen Apps. Bootstrapped from the ground up, the mobile app studio achieved millions of downloads, with all five apps ranking in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store at some point. Her success in building and scaling apps as a non-technical founder led to the creation of App It Out in 2024, a company dedicated to helping non-technical aspiring app creators and small businesses bring their mobile app ideas to life.

In 2019, Sheena launched her second venture, CapWay, a fintech startup focused on financial inclusion through a robust ecosystem of products, including digital banking, payments, and educational content. CapWay raised millions in venture capital—a rarity for Black women in tech—and earned Sheena the distinction of being the youngest woman in the U.S. to own and operate a digital bank.

Her latest venture, GRITS, co-founded with Sevetri Wilson Taylor, is a community for entrepreneurs offering executive coaching, courses, and insights through their podcast, Rich Lessons.

Sheena has also made her mark in film and publishing. She appeared in She Started It, a documentary highlighting women entrepreneurs, and was featured in a 2022 short documentary by Google for its Black Women in Tech series. She’s also the author of The Starting Guide, which shares her journey as a non-technical founder and offers business advice.

Born in Terry, Mississippi, Sheena graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with degrees in Psychology and Film. Her work has been recognized by Inc. Magazine, Forbes, and Business Insider. Sheena is a Forbes 30 Under 30honoree, a Business Insider Under 30 Innovator, and a recipient of the Maggie Lena Walker Emerging Leader Award.

Sheena continues to inspire as a leader in tech, a champion for financial inclusion, and a mentor for aspiring entrepreneurs.
